What the numbers show
Persons outside the labour force (previous ILO definition - ICLS13) (15+) is currently reported for 75 countries. The highest value is 102,846 in United States of America; the lowest is 49.18 in Saint Lucia.
The median across all reporting countries is 2,491, and the mean is 8,216.
The gap between the highest and lowest reporting country is a factor of about 2,091.
Over the past decade 47 countries rose and 26 fell. The largest increase was in Malawi (up 221.8%), and the largest decrease in Albania (down 46.0%).

About this data
With the aim of promoting international comparability, statistics presented on ILOSTAT are based on standard international definitions wherever feasible and may differ from official national figures. This series is based on the 13th ICLS definitions. For time series comparability, it includes countries that have implemented the 19th ICLS standards, for which data are also available in the Work Statistics -- 19th ICLS (WORK) database. Persons outside the labour force comprise all persons of working age who, during the specified reference period, were not in the labour force (that is, were not employed or unemployed).
