This indicator measures child labour on the basis of the general production boundary, in line with the 20th International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS). It includes both economic activity and unpaid household services. The indicator follows harmonized definitions used by the ILO for the production of global estimates. Data may therefore differ from nationally reported figures. Child labour includes: (a) children aged 5–11 years who performed at least one hour of economic activity and/or more than 21 hours of unpaid household services; (b) children aged 12–14 years who performed at least 14 hours of economic activity and/or more than 21 hours of unpaid household services; and (c) children aged 15–17 years who performed at least 43 hours of economic activity. For more information, refer to the Child Labour Statistics (CHILD) database description.
